What the Journal publishes
Userhub Journal publishes rigorous empirical, applied, methodological, conceptual, and review scholarship within its interdisciplinary research scope.
Manuscripts are expected to present a clearly defined research question, purpose, or problem; use methods and evidence appropriate to that purpose; provide a substantive analysis; engage with relevant scholarship; make claims proportionate to the evidence; and identify a contribution relevant to research, practice, policy, design, education, organisations, or public understanding.
Article types
Publication pathway
The Journal publishes research developed through Userhub's research programmes and collaborations. Relevant contributions from other researchers or organisations may also be considered following a pre-publication enquiry.
Prospective external contributors should contact [email protected] before preparing a submission specifically for the Journal.
Manuscript preparation
Manuscripts should normally include:
- a manuscript in English;
- a clear and informative title;
- an abstract appropriate to the article type;
- 4–10 keywords;
- complete author names and affiliations, including country;
- ORCID iD, where available;
- a corresponding-author email address;
- an author-contribution statement, using CRediT roles where practical;
- a transparent description of the research design, methods, evidence, and analytical approach where applicable;
- appropriate engagement with relevant literature;
- references formatted consistently, normally using APA 7 style;
- an editable Word or equivalent source file;
- an original manuscript that is not simultaneously under consideration elsewhere;
- an ethics and consent statement where applicable;
- funding information;
- a conflict-of-interest disclosure;
- a disclosure of material generative-AI use;
- a data-availability statement where applicable.
Research reporting
Reporting should be proportionate to the study design and allow readers to understand how the evidence was generated, analysed, and interpreted. Authors should describe material methodological decisions, limitations, and contextual factors that affect interpretation.
The Journal does not require one universal reporting format across all disciplines and methods. Where a recognised reporting convention is materially relevant to a study, authors are encouraged to use it appropriately rather than mechanically.
Indicative length guidance
These ranges are indicative rather than mechanical limits. The appropriate length depends on the research question, article type, evidence base, analytical depth, and clarity of presentation.
Assessment and publication
Manuscripts undergo substantive editorial and research-integrity assessment. Assessment considers methodological coherence, evidence quality, analytical depth, evidence-claim alignment, engagement with relevant scholarship, contribution, limitations, and publication readiness.
Additional subject or methodological expertise may be sought where it would strengthen assessment. Authors may be asked to revise the manuscript before a publication decision is made.
Access, copyright, and fees
Userhub Journal provides diamond open access. Authors are not charged submission, processing, or publication fees. Authors retain copyright, and published work is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) licence.
