Advanced Program in User Experience and Human-Centered Design Approaches

Diploma in User Experience Design

Human-Centered Design for Complex Systems (6 Months)

This Bangladesh-based advanced diploma prepares learners to lead design efforts across technology, education, health, and civic domains. Grounded in usability evaluation, content structuring, accessibility, and applied research, the program emphasizes real-world impact, ethical practice, and scholarly contribution.

Students work on high-impact projects with guidance from experienced mentors—producing publishable UX case studies that meet academic standards and system-level relevance.

Program Structure

Part 1: Foundations of UX Design and Usability Practice

This phase builds core competencies in evaluating digital products, designing usable and accessible interfaces, and organizing content around user needs. Learners develop the ability to diagnose usability issues, structure content for clarity, and test designs with real users.

  • Conduct UX audits using heuristic principles, accessibility standards, and interface evaluations
  • Identify usability issues related to efficiency, clarity, consistency, and user control
  • Assess task success, error rates, and interaction flow to guide design decisions
  • Plan and conduct user tests to observe behavior and task completion
  • Analyze test findings to identify friction points and generate actionable improvements
  • Apply insights to iteratively refine design structure and interaction quality
  • Develop content structures and taxonomies that reflect user goals and support discoverability
  • Design IA using sitemaps, labeling systems, and hierarchical navigation
  • Ensure clarity and accessibility across written and visual content components
  • Create user-centered interfaces that meet global accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG)
  • Build and refine low- to mid-fidelity prototypes for usability and clarity
  • Use structured feedback cycles to strengthen the usability of each iteration

By the end of Part 1, learners will be able to conduct user testing, evaluate interface quality, and create usable, accessible, and well-structured design solutions—establishing a foundation for advanced research and systemic thinking in Part 2.

Part 2: Advanced Human-Centered Design and Research

This phase focuses on human-centered inquiry, systems thinking, and ethical design practice for real-world and societal impact. Learners conduct field research, synthesize insights, and iteratively develop solutions that address unmet needs in complex environments. Final projects are documented to meet academic and professional publishing standards.

  • Plan and conduct qualitative and quantitative research (e.g., interviews, surveys, contextual inquiry)
  • Analyze findings to uncover unmet needs, systemic barriers, and social dynamics
  • Synthesize insights into inclusive, context-aware design directions
  • Develop and refine prototypes that address educational, health, civic, or development challenges
  • Test usability and relevance through structured feedback cycles
  • Communicate rationale, process, and findings through structured documentation
  • Prepare selected case studies for publication in the Userhub Journal
  • Build a research-backed portfolio that supports leadership roles in HCD, strategy, or policy-driven design

By the end of Part 2, learners will be equipped to apply human-centered methods in research and design, navigate social and system-level problem spaces, and contribute meaningfully to interdisciplinary practice across public, civic, and academic sectors.
